Tommy Hilfiger Spring/Summer 2027: Fashiontainment at The Plaza

“We believe in fashiontainment,” said Tommy Hilfiger.

Following a buzzworthy campaign filmed at The Plaza Hotel, emblematic U.S. brand Tommy Hilfiger returned to the iconic New York location to unveil its Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Once home to brand founder Tommy Hilfiger and his family, the midtown landmark welcomed members of the Tommy family (friends and ambassadors of the clothing brand) for a fashiontainment-filled afternoon, where the designer reintroduced his vision for modern prep.

Remixing the classics for 2027

A homecoming for the legendary designer, credited with reinventing the classic U.S. aesthetics through an all-encompassing lifestyle brand, the Tommy Hilfiger SS27 collection was a character study of sorts. The looks evoked the diverse set of personalities you’d encounter in the Plaza lobby, interpreted through the Tommy Hilfiger lens

“For 40 years, I’ve been inspired by the style of New Yorkers — how the people of the city take the classics and make them their own,” said the designer. “This season, The Plaza is our playground, where Tommy icons feel remixed and refined for today.”

The runway at The Plaza’s renowned Palm Court and Terrace Room opened with Gigi Hadid, longtime muse and brand collaborator. Clad in an oversized ‘fit, the model set the tone for the collection. Boxy tailoring, oversized silhouettes and layering aplenty followed. Archival and retro-infused pieces populated the catwalk, all remixed and revamped to fit present-day taste.

Tommy staples such as Ivy jackets and Oxford shirts found new life through patterns, vivid colors and print use. Rugby shirts were reworked into dresses or reimagined with novel color-blocking, large Tommy logos and oversized fits. Tartan plaids also took over the runway via windbreaker and standing collar jackets, cargo shorts, blazers and bucket hats. Meanwhile, Ithaca stripes adorned shirts and deconstructed tops.

Tommy Hilfiger brings back a piece of fashion history

Tommy Hilfiger also looked back in history, turning the iconic ‘80s ad in Times Square that cemented his place as one of America’s greatest into a printed dress. If you need a quick lesson on fashion history, in the 1980s, Tommy Hilfiger rented a billboard in the bustling Manhattan theater district. The ad read: “The 4 Great American Designers for Men Are: Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Tommy Hilfiger. The names, however, were not spelled out; the list only contained the first letters of each word and blank spaces. In no time, the ad had the fashion industry and New York residents turning their eyes on Hilfiger and his designs. The rest is history.

Tommy Hilfiger gives new meaning to “fame”

Channeling the day in The Plaza mood of the collection, the front row teemed with action courtesy of the Tommy family across F.A.M.E.S. (Fashion, Art, Music, Entertainment and Sport). Notable ambassadors such as the brand’s most recent campaign star Jisoo, model Winnie Harlow and Thai Wave representatives Phuwin, Gemini and Fourth shared the spotlight with names from across Latin America, Europe and the United States. Jisoo (South Korean actor, singer and fashion darling) sat alongside La Reina del Flow star Carlos Torres, Camila Cabello and chart-topping Spanish singer Bad Gyal.

Close by, Mexican pop star Kenia Os, who enjoys strong popularity across the Americas, and Ryan Castro, a Fashion Week fixture in all major fashion capitals, offered representation for Latin America. Elsewhere, K-pop pioneers Hyoeyeon Kim, Yuri Kwon and Sooyoung Choi (Girls’ Generation-HRS), Nickelodeon alum Victoria Justice, Olympic medalist Suni Lee and Love Island’s Trinity Tatum represented the diversity of Tommy Hilfiger’s friend roster.

Other notable figures gracing the front row included Maxton Hall’s Damian Hardung and Harriet Herbig-Matten, Emily in Paris’ Lucien Laviscount, Off Campus’ Josh Heuston, Lana Condor, Coco Jones, Rei Ami and more.

All gathered at the iconic Plaza Hotel, a New York landmark whose story is deeply intertwined with Tommy Hilfiger’s, the motley assembly of superstars celebrated the brand’s American heritage and longtime infatuation with the city and its residents.
