No Manners wraps up every week with a finely curated list of fashion, entertainment and pop culture’s “most” and “best” moments—the world’s hottest news, biggest stars and anything that made headlines worldwide.
May kicks off with America’s biggest fashion celebration, the Met Gala. This year, the event honored Black dandyism with a bevy of high-profile attendants, glitzy looks and cultural homages. While the night was certainly this week’s highlight, the world still witnessed noteworthy style, entertainment and cultural moments beyond the confines of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
It’s hard to believe any topic would overshadow the first Monday in May. However, between a conclave, a slew of red carpets and notable music releases aplenty, there was no shortage of pop culture action.
Below, No Manners recaps the superlatives in the first week of May, from the best music releases courtesy of Jackson Wang, Diljit Dosanjh and Becky G, to the best fashion moments by Felix, I.N and Liza Soberano.
The Most Empowering: Karol G
La Bichota continues to reap the success of Mañana Será Bonito, her fourth studio album and accompanying record-breaking tour. On May 8, Netflix unveiled the documentary Karol G: Tomorrow Was Beautiful, directed by Cristina Costantini. The film takes viewers behind the scenes of the singer’s stadium world tour — a first for any Latina artist. Empowering, raw and honest, the documentary shows Karol G’s humble beginnings and the challenges she overcame on her way to stardom in a male-dominated industry. It also offers a glimpse at the star’s creative vision and her commitment to empowering Latinas worldwide. A 10/10 watch.
The Loveliest: Becky G and Manuel Turizo
With 2025 shaping up to be a milestone year for both artists, Mexican-American superstar Becky G and Colombian singer Manuel Turizo teamed up in the Latin track “QUE HACES.” In its music video, the merengue-infused song celebrates love, friendships and companionship in all forms.
“I’ve been itching to get back to my pop urbano roots, but in a way that feels true to who I am today and incorporating everything I’ve experienced over the past few years. ‘QUE HACES’ is that song,” shared Becky G in a press statement. “Working on it with Manuel made it even more special. We had such a blast shooting the video and bringing this story of timeless love to life. I know fans are going to love it as much as we do.”
The Most Awaited: Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS Tour
On May 5, Puerto Rican hitmaker Bad Bunny unveiled the dates for his highly anticipated “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” stadium tour. On the heels of his latest album — one of his most successful to date — and a Puerto Rican residency during the summer, the singer will be traveling across the globe. The 23-date stadium tour kicks off on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. After stopovers in the Americas, Europe, Oceania and Asia, the tour will wrap up in Belgium on July 22, 2026.
The Holiest: The Conclave & The First U.S. Pope
Thanks to the Academy-winning film, Conclave, the most recent papal election unfolded amid unprecedented social media buzz. Whether non-religious folks simply enjoyed the memes or the most dogmatic wondered how the new head of the Roman Catholic Church would approach politics, the world closely followed the conclave. After a day and 27 minutes wait, the 133 cardinal electors named Cardinal Robert Prevost as Pope Francis’ successor. Taking the name of Leo XIV, Prevost became the first U.S.-born pope in history and is set to take the reins of the Catholic Curch in the coming years. Regardless of personal opinions on religion, the momentous occasion sparked conversations of all kinds, from history and politics to culture and entertainment. For that, Pope Leo XIV’s election belongs to this list. And for those who didn’t know yet, yes, the pope is a naturalized Peruvian citizen too—that’s not a meme.
The Dandiest: The Met Gala
This year, the exhibition that informs the Met Gala — the charity event fundraising for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — celebrated menswear for the first time in 20 years. Titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the exhibit spotlighted the contributions of Black people to fashion through the lens of dandyism. Accordingly, the dress code “Tailored for You” prompted guests at the famous event to dress to the nines and pay homage to Black culture, dandyism and tailoring codes.
The red carpet delivered, with A-list stars bringing the best of their style repertoire to the forefront. Black icons like Lauryn Hill, Jodie Turner-Smith, Zendaya and Colman Domingo understood the assignment with sartorial class and tributes to Black trailblazers such as André Leon Tally, Diana Ross and Selika Lazevski.
Asian stars, as per usual, were responsible for buzzy appearances. Thai star Freen Sarocha, Indian institution Shah Rukh Khan and Korean star S.Coups made impactful debuts. Freen had a gorgeous retro style moment courtesy of Maison Valentino, the brand she represents as ambassador. Meanwhile, S.Coups nodded to Korean traditional clothing with a Boss suit inspired by the Hanbok Jeogori and Shah Rukh Khan wore an ensemble by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. On the other hand, Latino names such as J.Balvin, Willy Chavarria, Maluma and Bad Bunny reimagined dandyism with homages to Latin American history and culture.

The Best Asian Team-Up: Jackson Wang and Diljit Dosanjh
Asian icons, assemble! Chinese pop star Jackson Wang and Indian powerhouse Diljit Dosanjh — who also made headlines this week with a Met Gala debut — joined forces in “BUCK.” The charismatic, high-energy track is a multilingual collaboration that merges English and Punjabi, celebrating the power of diversity. In the accompanying music video, Wang and Dosanjh deliver a powerful performance, bridging Wang’s penchant for symbolism and conceptual visuals and Dosanjh’s artistry. Not to mention that both stars — consummated fashion icons — also delivered their coolest style.
The Best Art-Inspired Fit: OUMA for Christine Chiu
Ou Ma, Creative Director and founder of bridal brand OUMA, took “art-inspired” to the next level with a one-of-a-kind couture gown created for Bling Empire star Christine Chiu. The dress, which Chiu sported to this year’s Gold Gala — a celebration of the AAPI community in Los Angeles — found inspiration in a Qing Dynasty painting by Zou Yigui. The result was a breathtaking piece in gold satin that merged artisanal techniques like hand painting, 3D embroidery and beading.
“When I came across the Qing Dynasty painting of the camellia and plum blossom—two flowers that bloom against the cold—I immediately thought of her (Chiu),” the designer shared. “Translating that imagery into a living, breathing garment felt like painting in motion. This collaboration allowed me to weave together art, culture, and personal story in the most intimate way.”
The Most Cowboycore: Belinda
Yes, yes, cowboycore has experienced a major resurgence since last year, we know. However, it’s not every day that an artist delivers so much Western-style inspiration in just one music video—at least not in 2025. Enter Mexican-Spanish icon Belinda and her latest music release, “Mírame Feliz.” The collaboration with regional music singer Xavi is a masterclass on cowboycore dressing. Denim, chunky belts, fringed pants, cowboy hats, and every Western fashion staple find a home in the single’s music video and promotional images. We’ll be bookmarking and pinning them to our style board ASAP.
The Best Streetwear: Felix and I.N
The red carpets are not always the ultimate source of fashion slays. Look no further than K-pop stars I.N and Felix of Stray Kids, who sparked an internet frenzy with nothing but an Instagram post. The publication showed both stars dressed in streetwear looks, featuring brands such as Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Comme des Garçons and Bonbom. The singers also co-signed popular trends, giving their seal of approval to the return of tank tops and patched-adorned items. All in all, it was a masterclass on spring dressing and doing the most out of wardrobe staples.
The Most Sculptural: Liza Soberano
The best-dressed stars are often those who have mastered the art of experimentation. Filipina actress Liza Soberano clearly belongs to that category. The star, a red carpet regular and style icon among icons, went by this principle for her Gold Gala appearance on May 10. Soberano stepped out in a dress by couture designer Zhaoyi Yu. The look featured everything Yu’s designs are known for — structure, ethereal shapes and dreamy colors. Soberano stood out in the mint green minidress and sculptural skirt overlay that gracefully trailed as she walked the red carpet.
