Yes, it’s been 24 hours, but our minds are still there — at the Met Gala, we mean. With so much fashion to take in, it was nearly impossible to dissect all the relevant looks, people and moments worth talking about.
Thankfully, our team has gone through so much fashion content and enough press releases to handpick the 2025 Met Gala highlights, from the best designer fit and the most striking look to the best debut and even the best lip combo.
This is our verdict.
The best makeover: Law Roach
Stylist Law Roach debuted a brand new hairstyle on the red carpet and it was truly a game changer. Paired with a Burberry suit and the coolest footwear, his new look helped him deliver the perfect red carpet appearance.
The best reveal: Rihanna
RiRi surprised everybody with her Marc Jacobs ensemble, but she surprised us even more with her pregnancy reveal.
Honorable mention to Damson Idris, who ripped out his racing tracksuit on the red carpet to reveal a dandy three-piece suit underneath.
The best self-made: A$AP Rocky
RiRi’s romantic partner and gala co-chair, A$AP Rocky, sported one of his own designs to the red carpet. There’s not much to say, except that it embodied the dandy theme to a tee.
The coolest designer fit: Manish Malhotra
Indian designer Manish Malhotra debuted on the Met Gala red carpet alongside Coco Jones. He opted for a breathtaking velvet cape adorned with a cluster of brooches and collar pins.
The most baring: Lisa and Sabrina Carpenter
It takes skill to pull off pantless fashion on the red carpet, rock the look and come out a best-dressed among a multitude of tasteful A-listers. It girls Lisa and Sabrina Carpenter clearly possess that skill.
The most embellished: Coco Jones
Styled by Maeve Reilly, actress and singer Coco Jones stunned in a Manish Malhotra look inspired by the zoot suit. While the silhouette itself was spectacular, what took it to the next level was the hand-embroidered cape featuring more than 200,000 Swarovski crystals. Oh, and honorable mention to her long braid hairstyle and the equally stunning diamond jewelry adorning her neck.
The most impactful return: Diana Ross
Diana Ross made her first Met Gala appearance in 22 years. For the momentous occasion, Ross wore an 18-foot cape, created by Ugo Mozie’s brand ELEVEN SIXTEEN. Oh, and she sported the most spectacular wide-brim hat.
The most literal: Jenna Ortega
Ever heard of a literal interpretation of the Met Gala theme? Jenna Ortega took “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” to a whole new level by wearing a tailoring essential: measuring tape. Yes, you heard it right, she sported a dress made of metallic rules that emulated any tailor’s must-have tool — measuring tape.
The most long-awaited: Shah Rukh Khan
Indian star Shah Rukh Khan is a cultural institution. His Met Gala debut was long overdue and he knew exactly what to do to pull it off perfectly. Between the Sabyasachi suit and the exquisite jewelry, there was little to no room for improvement. In Sabyasachi’s words, “Shah Rukh Khan is a magician, superstar, and icon. Period.”
The most modern: Rosé
Rosé’s return to the Met Gala was effortlessly chic. Her take on the modern suit channeled both the night’s theme and her personal style, exemplifying that even for a dress code related to dandyism, sometimes less is more.
The best Latino homage: Maluma and Willy Chavarria
Bringing their Latin American heritage to the forefront, reggaeton singer Maluma and fashion designer Willy Chavarria put a spin on the “Tailored For You” dress code. They both sported Pachuco-inspired suits in vibrant colors that attracted everyone’s attention. The result was colorful, on theme and absolutely dandy.
The most avant-garde: André 3000
Outkast’s André 3000 is no stranger to style statements, but he took it up a notch at the 2025 Met Gala. The singer sported a piano on his back — yes, you read it right, a piano! It was an avant-garde fashion moment, but it was also a teaser for the new album he surprisingly dropped the same night. If you didn’t guess it yet, yes, the title was piano-related.
The most heartfelt: Bad Bunny
Fresh from the success of his most recent album, Bad Bunny is all appreciation and love for his native Puerto Rico. The “DtMF” singer didn’t miss the chance to shout out to his culture, matching his Prada suit with a traditional pava hat, an item he has previously sported in the promotional images of Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
The best lip combo: Jennie
Details can get lost in a red carpet so heavily focused on the fashion. But here, at No Manners, we look at every single detail and we’re frankly obsessed with Jennie’s take on the lip sculpting trend. We’ll be recreating the look every day until further notice.
The most timely: Khaby Lame
TikTok creator Khaby Lame wore a three-piece suit inspired by a Boss archival look. The tailoring was nice, but the real pièce de résistance was the slew of pocket watches adorning the waistcoat, which, according to the brand, was a “cheeky nod to the star’s success on TikTok.”
The most graceful: Freen Sarocha
Making a Met Gala debut is always a monumental occasion, but it’s even more of a feat when you’re joining an elite group of fellow compatriots. That was the case for Thai actress Freen Sarocha, who repped the fashion brand Valentino, but also carried the weight of representing her country. Needless to say, the star was up to the challenge. As per Lefty, she became one of the buzziest appearances of the night, amassing $5.81 million in Earned Media Value. Wow.
The chicest: Laura Harrier
Outfitted by Gap, Laura Harrier was one of the night’s sensations. Her all-white look had everything — tailoring, storytelling (her family’s pictures were part of the moodboard) and of course, the chic factor.
The best men-icure: Dwyane Wade
Stylish manicures are the rule and not the exception on the Met Gala red carpet. However, former basketball player Dwyane Wade stood out among his male peers with nails that perfectly matched his outfit’s color palette.
The most on theme: Teyana Taylor
She served dandyism, she served drama and she practically set the bar for the night with her strong sartorial sense.
The best menswear debut: S.Coups
K-pop star S.Coups knew exactly how to reimagine the night’s concept to fit his personal story. The singer’s look was an ode to Korean culture, with nods to the country’s traditional clothing. However, he didn’t depart far from the dandy and tailoring notes informing this year’s gala. Considering that the theme highlighted menswear, S.Coups’ take on tailoring and dandyism stood out the most among first-time attendants.
The most coordinated: Colman Domingo
Met Gala co-host Colman Domingo showed a masterclass on print and texture coordination in a Valentino ensemble that combined polka dots, plaids and and pearl embellishments.
The most tenniscore: Venus Williams
Venus Williams embraced the night’s dress code in her own terms, partnering with Lacoste. The sportswear brand created a tennis-infused look consisting of a tennis skirt, a polo top and a robe coat. As per the brand, the outfit took 1,000 hours to complete and featured 18,000 sewn beads, 54,000 sequins and 36,000 microtubes.
The best debut of all time: Lauryn Hill
Grammy-award-winning icon Lauryn Hill is in no way a regular at events of any kind. She also happens to be one of the biggest Black musicians of all time. So, while her appearance at the Met Gala was essential, it was also totally unexpected. She surprised everyone, but she also slayed in a Cheney Chan suit.
