Stray Kids and Tottenham Hotspur Collaborate on Limited Edition Away Kit

Stray Kids commemorates their historic performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with an exclusive collaboration.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club announced a new football kit in partnership with Stray Kids on July 16. Drawing on the relationship between sports, music and fashion, this collaboration celebrates global cultural trends. The new football kit was released ahead of the K-pop group’s two-night stint at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 18 and 19 as part of the <dominATE> World Tour.

The Stray Kids and Tottenham Hotspur collaboration is a limited-edition celebration of the intersection of music, sports and fashion — there is no shortage of connections, historical or modern, between these industries. With this collaboration, Tottenham Hotspur commemorates Stray Kids’ historic performance at the club’s stadium — a first for any K-pop act. They also gave a nod to the club’s growing Korean fanbase, courtesy of team captain Son Heung-min. Son has played for Tottenham for 10 years, building a reputation that has earned him a large fan base.

With Stray Kids poised to perform at Tottenham’s home stadium, the two parties found a natural way to excite their shared fans. The exclusive, co-designed Away shirt is a collector’s piece that reflects the advent of K-pop, the future of Tottenham and the role of sports gear in fashion.

“In an era where football kits are increasingly becoming fashion staples and K-pop continues its meteoric rise, this collaboration stands as a powerful statement. It positions Tottenham Hotspur as a forward-thinking club, unafraid to innovate and engage with culture beyond the pitch,” shared the club in a statement.

Sports Gear As Everyday Wear

Undoubtedly, athletic attire has earned a place in fashion. Athleisure, in the form of sweatsuits or flared leggings, has taken many turns in the spotlight. Recently, however, sports gear has become a closet staple in fashion-forward spaces. A simple search on Pinterest yields an unending stream of outfit inspiration for sport jerseys of all kinds.

To further position sports gear in fashion spheres, brands and sports entities have tapped into the power of global celebrities and influencers. As data company Launchmetrics explained in a report, “Rooted in cultural relevance, [this kind of contributor] drives buzz beyond their own Voice and reshapes brand perception. They don’t just sell out products, they reposition brands in the eyes of their community.”

Pop singer Tate McRae, for example, became synonymous with hockey jerseys on her rise to stardom, making her NHL fanship a part of her tour and off-duty outfits. Now, McRae offers a “T8” jersey as part of her merchandise line for her Miss Possessive tour. Likewise, during the Wicked press run, actresses Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo wore matching bedazzled Galinda and Elphaba Louis Vuitton football jerseys to the Super Bowl.

As cultural niches blossom into global interests, brands continue to find new ways of leveraging the power of fandom with authentic, cross-industry collaborations. The THFC x Stray Kids Limited Edition 25/26 Away Shirt is such an example. With this collaboration, the K-pop stars cement their place as cultural icons, stepping into the sports sphere and bridging the world of football, music, and fandom.
