While the focus was on the parade of stylish outfits, Japanese multihyphenate Sho Hirano stood out among the well-dressed celebrity guests and industry professionals for something other than his fashion, his grooming—a take on the frosted tips hairstyle that dominated the early aughts.
While the world is collectively looking back at the past in the “2026 is the new 2016” trend —blame nostalgia, the socio-political climate or simply the trend cycle—the Number_i member is finding inspiration in the 1990s and 2000s. The moodboard? The frosted tips hairstyle favored by the era’s biggest heartthrobs. Think of the Back Street Boys’ Nick Carter or *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake.
But of course, as a trendsetter in his native Japan, Hirano didn’t go by the regular frosty tips. Now, in case you need a crash course on frosted tips, this hairstyle consists of bleached or color-lightened hair tips—hence the name. Generally done on short hair, the result is contrasting hair that looks darker at the roots and lighter at the ends.
Here’s where Hirano departed from the classic M.O. Switching things up, the singer, a trendsetter in his native Japan, put a personal twist by reversing the color. That is, blonde roots and brown ends for a striking bicolor hair effect. As for the styling, Hirano sported his hair in a short curtain bang style with a subtle mullet, a look beyond befitting for a pop star and member of a boy band.

Hirano didn’t go hard only on the hair department. The fashion was just as cool: a Gen Z-approved relaxed-fit suit and a classic light blue striped shirt. The trick was on the silhouette, color choice and styling. The front-pleated, wide-legged trousers allowed for freedom of movement, while khaki and light blue made for a tasteful combination. Meanwhile, the rolled-up sleeves bestowed the ensemble with confidence.
For accessories, Hirano stepped into a pair of chunky sole Derby shoes—LV’s hiking boot and derby hybrid, aptly titled the LV Remix. The final look was complete with a tie, a golden timepiece, a silver ring and a purple Speedy P9 bag.
Overall, it was another standout look for Hirano, who by now has an entire lookbook of winning front row´fits. All, Louis Vuitton, of course.
