Every summer, lightweight foulards become the fashion glitterati’s go-to add-on. This year, however, silk scarves received an upgrade. The hack? wearing them around the waist or tied to a belt loop. The biggest fashion luminaries, from Felix of Stray Kids to Alexa Chung, are opting for this styling tip.

Here’s how to embrace the silk scarf trend taking over our feeds.

The Triangular Belt

Those updated with the latest fashion news have probably seen the OG it-girl, Alexa Chung, sport silk scarves around the head, tied around her neck or adorning her favorite mini bag. But did you know she is also rocking the triangular scarf look? Last May, the star stepped out in London with a square silk foulard folded in half and wrapped around her waist. Layered atop a pair of denim pants and paired with a white tee, the scarf brought the outfit to the next level and completely revamped an otherwise simple style formula.

While Chung certainly shed renewed light on this styling trick, the trend has been steadily growing among social media creators since last year. On TikTok, various fashion creators have put their personal spins on the look, using scarves in a multitude of ways. Some prefer to fold the scarf into a long strap and thread it through the belt loops of their pants—just like they’d do with a belt. Others simply cinch the scarf at the waist atop a loose top or a long flowy skirt.

The Dangling Bandana

While women prefer to use belt scarves to define their silhouettes, men are opting for a different approach, simply tying the bandanas through their belt loops. This option is rather straightforward, but if we go by the example set by male celebs, it can be an instant way of transforming an outfit.

K-pop star Felix, for example, added a silk scarf to one of his concert looks. The star, member of K-pop super group Stray Kids, performed at the Chicago Wrigley Field on June 26. His stage outfit perfectly exemplified how the unassuming square scarf can elevate your style.

And yes, we know Felix can turn anything into a style statement, but his take on the trend is bulletproof. The trick is adding a scarf that matches your look’s color palette to keep things cohesive. In Felix’s case, the LV monogram scarf was a subtle but impactful detail that stood out without overpowering the rest of his getup—a monochrome outfit featuring denim pants, a white tee and a biker vest.

With a Color Pop

On the other hand, celebrities at the latest edition of Men’s Paris Fashion Week gave the dangling scarf the key point treatment. Stars like Japanese singer Sho Hirano and Indian rapper Badshah graced the front rows with ‘fits featuring silk scarves knotted at the waistband of their pants. Unlike Felix, they both opted for adding contrasting color accents with their square cloths. Sho Hirano, on one hand, hit the streets with a black, orange and white foulard tied to a pair of loose gray pants. The rest of his look leaned on lighter colors, including pink and white.

Badshah, on the other hand, upgraded a neutral-toned look with a pop of color, courtesy of a white and orange scarf. For a maximalist effect, the star wore a dangling chain on the other side of the waist and combined his ensemble with orange sneakers.

Or chatelaine-inspired

If none of the styles above are clicking, Puerto Rican singer Anuel AA has an alternative: the dangling handkerchief. Attending the Amiri Spring-Summer 2026 show, the star sported a small hankie, attached to the belt loop with a key keeper. His take still aligns with the trend, but also nods to the belt charm craze and chatelaine-inspired decorations, championed by the likes of Dua Lipa.
