Mikimoto, the Japanese jeweller recognized for pioneering cultured pearls, showcased its new high jewelry collection, “L’éclat,” during Haute Couture Week. The presentation took place at Hôtel d’Évreux in Place Vendôme, Paris.
As the name suggests, “L’éclat” (ray of light, thunder in French) finds inspiration in the light radiating in a moment of stillness. In the collection, each piece reflects different expressions of light through combinations of white gold, mother-of-pearl and precious gemstones. At Hôtel d’Évreux, each piece was showcased against a backdrop of light-infused structures and projections with international names and brand collaborators in attendance, from Academy Award-winning actor Michelle Yeoh to Japanese musician Yuta Jinguji.

Brilliance and elegance merge in “L’éclat”
Mikimoto, a member of France’s fashion regulating body, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode since 2018, presented its haute joaillerie collection on July 8. For the occasion, New York-based fashion designer Anna Choi created original dresses that served to showcase and elevate the jewelry pieces.

The display featured newly debuted designs that channeled various forms of light through dazzling pearls, diamonds, sapphires, green tourmalines and emeralds. Standout items include “L’éclat Originel,” a statement necklace of layered pearls with a sharp centerpiece of mother-of-pearl and diamonds, and “L’éclat Solaire,” an opulent set with green accents. The latest features a large choker and matching earrings with cascading pearls, green tourmalines and emeralds.
Another highlight is “L’éclat Stellaire,” a headpiece inspired by “the stars that make up a galaxy.” Made of Akoya pearls, South Sea pearls, diamond and white gold, the object is a testament to Mikimoto’s high level of craftsmanship.

Mikimoto’s celebrity guests and partners wore other remarkable pieces from the collection
Actor Keiko Kitagawa, known for productions such as Since I Took You Away (2025) and The Fast and the Furious, sported, among others, “L’éclat Éternel.” The earring and necklace set represent the diffusion of light, with diamonds and pearls of various forms creating a Herringbone-like pattern.

Ken Watanabe (Memoirs of a Geisha, The Last Samurai) accentuated his sleek pinstripe jacket with a brooch that draws inspiration from the “beauty of light trails and dynamic movements soaring through the night sky.” The piece, shaped after a shooting star, featured Akoya pearls, white gold and diamonds, with subtle pops of color courtesy of zircon, sapphire and tourmaline.

Yuta Jinguji wore a one-of-a-kind ring
Meanwhile, Japanese actor Yuta Jinguji, who recently starred in the Mikimoto content series “The Layers of Light”, wore one of the newly debuted necklaces for the occasion. The item, which embodied “the beauty of light,” consisted of a three-dimensional spiral structure enhanced with pearls and adorned with an emerald-cut aquamarine at the center.

Jinguji, who has steadily made a name for himself in fashion and luxury spaces as a friend and ambassador of various brands, also sported a ring exclusively created for him at the Mikimoto atelier. The ring was first spotted at “The Layers of Light,” a visual series offering a glimpse into Mikimoto’s artisan atelier and craftsmanship. Created in dialogue between Jinguji and the Mikimoto atelier in an experience that is off-limits for the general public, the rare ring features a portrait-cut aquamarine nestled in a frame of sapphire pavé. Taking customization to the next level, the piece also includes the singer’s initials in the central gemstone and is complete with black pearls and alexandrite adorning the sides.
