Marian Rivera is the Philippines’ Next Fashion Export

From the Philippines to the international scene, Marian Rivera is conquering the fashion world one step at a time.

Marian Rivera has cemented herself as one of the top stars in the Philippines’ show business. Known as a household name for her hit dramas and movies, the actress is now making strides in the world of luxury.

ICYIM, Southeast Asia has long been an emerging market for luxury goods. The Philippines is no exception. Filipinos are increasingly aware and savvy towards the consumption of upscale fashion, beauty, and jewelry products. While many factors weigh in, celebrity endorsements still tip the scales significantly. In tandem, the effectiveness of influencer marketing in the country allows aspirational creators to unlock a wide audience.

What happens when you combine star power and social media influence? The response might be the new wave of Filipino stars making headway into the international luxury industry. One such example is Marian Rivera, whose influence is expanding across fashion, beauty and jewelry segments.

Striking Gold with Jewelry Giants

Armed with a strong business strategy and an extensive list of relevant House friends and ambassadors, international jewelry brands have established a strong presence in the Asian market.

Marian is one of the Southeast Asian celebrities contributing to this boom. Her friendship with the luxury jewelry giant Bvlgari runs deep. The prime-time icon has sported the brand’s high jewelry pieces on magazine covers, red carpets and major international events.

She further reinforced her relationship with the Italian jeweller with her appearance at the Bvlgari Trunk Show last July. For the occasion, Marian flew to Singapore. She joined a stellar lineup of Asian stars at the historical House of Tan Yeok Nee. As she often does at international events, Marian embodied timeless Filipino sensibilities, wearing some of the brand’s most-coveted pieces from the Serpenti collection — her way of bridging Italian luxury with local preferences.

Marian’s Affinity for Italian Brands

In addition to high jewelry, Marian has built a portfolio by collaborating with Italian fashion and beauty companies. In 2023, she became the first Filipino ambassador for Kiko Milano. The beauty brand is known for its Instagrammable lip glosses, as well as its consistency in providing affordable, high-quality makeup. Marian led the “Icons from an Icon” campaign and flew to Milan to shoot promotional ads where she showcased products such as the Unlimited Blush, 3D Hydra Lipgloss, and Unlimited Double Touch.

A year later, the actress made her Milan Fashion Week debut, attending the N°21 (Numero Ventuno) collection presentation. She was present at other fashion events taking place in the Duomo City.

Consistent with her affiliations, Marian has also developed ties to Italian leather goods brands. In her enviable collection of designer bags, names such as Bottega Veneta stand out. Pieces like a brown Andiamo clutch, a Knot Gradient Crocodile Minaudiere clutch and a gold Mini Sardine are part of her bag wardrobe rotation. But her association with maroquinerie brands goes far beyond wearing coveted bags. She even celebrated her 41st birthday with a chic celebration hosted by the Italian fashion house Fendi.

A Rising Couture Icon

As a top star, it comes as no surprise that Marian gravitates to couture and has forged ties with some of the Philippines and Asia’s most relevant couturiers. She has donned it all, from iterations of traditional attire to elaborate creations by international designers.

In early August, for example,  the star turned heads with a Zuhair Murad look at the 2025 GMA Gala. The lacy black off-shoulder ensemble accentuated her features and proportions with a corseted bodice and sheer detailing. On different occasions, Marian sported looks by Vietnam-based Hacchic Couture. She donned the brand’s creations during awards ceremonies and her renewal of vows with husband Dingdong Dantes.

Despite her pursuit of global fashion success, Marian has stayed true to her roots, often supporting the work of couturiers from her home country and the wider Southeast Asia region. Case in point: she received her “Best Actress” award for “Balota” at the 8th Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards dressed in a custom terno (Filipinas’ national attire) from couturier Steph Tan.

As brands and industry spaces turn their attention to the Filipino creative class, Marian Rivera is an example of the country’s meteoric fashion rise. Combining her personal mark and style affinities with her social media prowess, the actress represents everything Filipino celebrities have grown a reputation for: vision, digital influence and engaged audiences — a winning formula that will surely contribute to her global fashion takeover.
