Louis Vuitton x Murakami Anticipates the Cherry Blossom Season

Chapter II of the fan-favorite Louis Vuitton x Murakami collaboration to hit stores on March 21, celebrating spring with a cherry blossom motif.

Perhaps no other fashion collaboration this year has sparked as much buzz and attention as the team up between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami. A homage to their first partnership 20 years ago, the collection revisits Louis Vuitton’s codes through Muramaki’s signature contemporary art.

Cherry Blossom Time

Following the first drop in January, Louis Vuitton unveiled the collaboration’s second chapter, which celebrates the arrival of spring. A poetic tribute to the Japanese cherry blossom season, the collaboration’s second part features Takashi Murakami’s cherry blossom motif on more than 40 pieces. From city bags, silk scarves and shoes to the spectacular bespoke malle vestiaire, the pattern is emblazoned with cutting-edge digital technology across signature Louis Vuitton items.

The pink pattern appears on the iconic Monogram canvas of city bags such as the On the Go, Papillon, Boulogne and Speedy 25. The pattern is also present on the luggage collection via suitcases and the Keepall 45. In addition, the Marellini, Alma BB and one of the three Capucines receive a pink makeover, painted in vibrant pink that matches the Cherry Blossom motif.

Beyond leather goods, the new drop will also include the fragrance “Spell on You” with the cherry blossom motif embossed on the bottle. The bottle will be accompanied by cylindrical packaging, a travel case, and the “Ultimate Flacon” glass dome, all decorated with cherry blossom snowflakes.

A Highly Awaited Collab

The first installment of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection, accompanied by a campaign starring brand ambassador Zendaya, received global acclaim. As per data company Launchmetrics, the campaign garnered $7.4 million in Media Impact Value in just one week. Revisiting a pivotal moment in fashion history, the collection is a suitable throwback to the early aughts and has, accordingly, sparked nostalgia-driven sales
