Louis Vuitton celebrated the opening of its itinerant exhibition “Visionary Journeys” at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art with a celebrity-packed event.
French luxury brand Louis Vuitton touched down in Osaka, Japan, for another installment of its itinerant exhibition “Visionary Journeys.” The immersive event, which coincides with the 2025 World Expo in Japan (Osaka-Kansai Expo), celebrates Louis Vuitton’s 170th anniversary and highlights the brand’s longstanding ties to Japan. Celebrity ambassadors and House friends Sho Hirano, Suzu Hirose, Antoine Dupont, Kōki and Yuta were among the A-listers gracing the exhibition’s opening on July 14.
Visionary Journeys
Following stops in Thailand and China, the “Visionary Journeys” exhibition landed in Japan. The immersive display is a journey across the Louis Vuitton universe, highlighting the brand’s history and legacy, as well as its connection to travel and luxury.
Curated by fashion historian Florence Muller and designed by the architecture and design powerhouse OMA, the showcase is distributed across the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, one of Japan’s top venues for modern and contemporary art. “Visionary Journeys” takes visitors through 12 themed rooms and displays archival items, photographs, art and more than 200 Japanese art objects.
Louis Vuitton and Japan
Among the themed rooms, the “Louis Vuitton and Japan” section is a standout of the exhibition. The space explores the cultural dialogue between Louis Vuitton and Japan, featuring early pieces inspired by Japonism and iconic items from the brand’s collaborations with Japanese artists such as Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama, Rei Kawakubo and NIGO®.
Rare Louis Vuitton objects, such as tea sets, items imbued in “kawaii” aesthetics and a dressing table trunk made for the house’s ambassador, Ichikawa Danjuro XIII, find a place in this exhibition. The pieces are showcased on floating tatami mats, with matching tatami-shaped lighting serving as the backdrop.
Another highlight of “Visionary Journeys” is the Atelier Rarex space. This room is a glimpse into the brand’s atelier on Place Vendôme in Paris. There, Louis Vuitton crafts one-of-a-kind pieces for major events and red carpet events like the Met Gala. In this room, Louis Vuitton displays looks worn by celebrities, including the dress that brand ambassador Suzu Hirose sported at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Celebrity-Packed Event
Echoing the exhibition’s emphasis on cultural exchange and Louis Vuitton’s close relationship with Japan, the opening event was a parade of esteemed House ambassadors and friends. The list spanned Japanese pop culture icons, artists and up-and-coming stars.
Brand ambassador Suzu Hirose graced the event dressed in a total black ensemble, consisting of a bubble sleeve jacket and cropped flare pants. Meanwhile, fellow ambassador Sho Hirano donned a denim-on-denim set that emphasized house codes such as the iconic Damier pattern and the LV monogram. Hirano stood out as one of the most notable celebrity attendees, not only because of his strong relationship with the brand, but also because of his newly debuted red dye hairstyle.
On the other hand, celebrities such as Kōki and Yuta put a youthful spin on their looks, opting for summer-apprpriate and sportswear-infused fashion. Kōki’s outfit was a mix of preppy staples, accentuated with a striped sweatshirt reminiscent of a rugby shirt. As for Yuta, the singer went for a baseball-inspired shirt and trendy flare denim pants. Accessories are king, so the star elevated his ‘fit with chunky platform shoes, clear frames and statement jewelry. An eye-catching timepiece and the iconic Shopper Tote bag tied the look together.

Other guests gracing the event were Olympic athlete Yuto Horigome, artist VERDY, A-list actor Dori Sakurada, fashionista Shuzo Ohira, filmmaker Naomi Kawase and rapper Awich.

Louis Vuitton “Visionary Journeys” will be open from July 15th through September 17th, 2025 at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka. Remember you can only enter the gift shop if you are viewing the exhibition.

Admission fee: 2,000 yen for adults, 1,500 yen for university and college students, free for high school students and younger (advance registration required) *For this exhibition, people aged 65 or older who reside in Osaka City will also be required to pay the general admission fee.
