This is going straight to our fall-inspiration board.
LingLing Kwong got a head start on fall styling at New York Fashion Week. The Thai actor stepped out in the City that Never Sleeps on September 11 to attend her first Calvin Klein show as a brand VIP.
A visionary always ahead of the trend curve, the star made a solid case for velvet dressing for fall. Yes, we know, it’s technically not fall yet—the season officially kicks off with the autumnal equinox on September 22—but with fashion taking over New York, it only makes sense that the Secret of Us star is delivering early fall inspiration for our moodboards.
The actor was spotted at the Calvin Klein SS27 collection unveiling, dressed in a sharp-shouldered suit. The velvet number, first introduced in the brand’s FW26 collection, featured a shawl-collar blazer that thrived on contrasts: sharp angles in shiny, soft fabric and a dropped but oversized shoulder line juxtaposed with a deep V neckline and fitted waist. The set was complete with relaxed-fit trousers of the same black fabric and pointed-toe heels.

Playing with juxtaposition, the ensemble struck the perfect balance between power suiting and whimsical (and subtly goth) fall style. Not to mention that amid the revival of all things whimsical and retro, the suit retained a ‘70s mystique—the look, after all, belongs to a collection that reinterpreted Calvin Klein’s foundational years in the late 1970s and early 1980s. LingLing topped things off with beauty statements: wet-hair waves and glowy skin makeup.

Pop Culture and Fashion Converge in New Calvin Klein Campaign
Although velvet is a fashion mainstay during the fall and holiday season, LingLing’s take tapped into the minimalism and pared-down elegance that characterize Calvin Klein and have defined Veronica Leoni’s tenure as creative director.
At the same time, the outfit offered an alternative to the more “bewitching” velvet outfits that are slowly infiltrating our social media feeds thanks to the return of Practical Magic to the silver screen and the anticipation for the spooky season.
While LingLing is no newcomer in the fashion scene—she has previously starred in regional Calvin Klein campaigns and is a well-known face in the fashion circuit thanks to her association with brands like Dior—this is the first time the actor has attended New York Fashion Week. And what better way to do it than as the APAC face of Calvin Klein?
