Renowned composer and producer Edgar Barrera and regional music trio Yahritza y Su Esencia deliver the perfect anthem for dreamers and immigrants.

Grammy Award-winning composer and producer Edgar Barrera joins forces with regional music band Yahritza y Su Esencia in his newest single, “Qué Puedo Perder” (What Can I Lose?). The track serves as the official theme song of Telemundo and HYBE Latin America’s competition show, Pase a la Fama. 

An Ode to Perseverance

Produced and co-written by Edgar Barrera—who boasts credits on hits such as Karol G’s “Si Antes te Hubiera Conocido” and Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny’s “un x100to”—the empowering anthem celebrates perseverance and determination in the face of challenges. With lyrics that loosely translate to “Raise the flag so they know that we don’t give up here/ What can I lose?/ I don’t care if I stumble along the way/ I will get up/ I will not give up,” the song also nods to the immigrant experience and the power of hard work. 

Oscar-nominated Mexican-American filmmaker Carlos López Estrada directed the accompanying music video. In the 2:52 clip, Yahritza y Su Esencia reinforce their message, showcasing workers at a cilantro field in Los Angeles.

Pase a la Fama OST

“Qué Puedo Perder” is one of the first musical teasers anticipating Pase a la Fama, Telemundo and HYBE Latin America’s music competition premiering Sunday, June 8. The reality television series will bring together 55 aspiring musicians to find the next “Mexican banda global sensation.” 

Throughout the competition, contestants will train and perform at a boot camp, before facing elimination rounds. In the end, a few will be selected to join a regional music band and claim a contract with HYBE Latin America.
