International star Belinda is showing her best fashion front to promote Amazon Prime’s Mentiras, The Series. The singer and actress has brought the golden era of fashion and supermodels back, opting for vintage creations for her promotional appearances. And that’s 100% in character.
Belinda, Imponiendo Moda
Mexican-Spanish star Belinda Peregrín, best known mononymously as Belinda, has an extensive track record of setting trends. As a child actress, she famously professed to “impose fashion for the girls,” and she has continued to live up to that trendsetter status as an adult.
Her most recent display of fashion saviness has come by the hand of Mentiras, The Series, Amazon Prime’s latest Mexican production. Set in the ‘80s and reintroducing the 2000s musical of the same name, the series follows Daniela (Belinda), Dulce (Diana Bovio), Lupita (Mariana Treviño) and Yuri (Regina Blandón) as they navigate the death of Emmanuel, a man whose entanglements with the four women are revealed as the plot progresses. Each of the characters is named after iconic female singers in Mexico during the 1980s.
Trying Method Dressing
Belinda, who plays the role of Emmanuel’s wife, has opted for method dressing to promote her new series. Her looks have, so far, involved vintage Yves Saint Laurent and Versace pieces from the early aughts.
To kick off the series’ promotional run, Belinda stepped out in Mexico City for a press junket. Styled by Freddy Alonso, the singer embodied her character, Daniela, and her signature color, pink. She opted for black tailored trousers featuring a side stripe of the same color. The look’s centerpiece was a printed fuchsia jacket from the Yves Saint Laurent Spring-Summer 1986 collection. Slingback shoes and a crimson red manicure complemented Belinda’s get-up-
“Mentiras is Mexico’s most successful musical. It’s set in the 1980s, and each of its characters is represented by a color. Belinda’s, obviously, is pink, so this look couldn’t be more ideal to start the promo,” Alonso wrote on Instagram.
More Pink
After setting the tone for her wardrobe, Belinda attended the series premiere at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City. On this occasion, the actress nodded to the noughties with a pink Versace gown from the Spring-Summer 2007 collection. The halter neckline dress carried sequined details on the bodice and a fluid column skirt and a gathered train cascading down a cutout detail on the back. Wow.
Before wrapping the night up, Belinda underwent a costume change that tapped into fashion’s obsession with bows. As she stepped on stage to perform, Belinda wowed in a velvet pink gown. The dress belonged to Redondo Brand’s Spring-Summer 2025 collection and featured a skin-tight corset adorned with a bow and geometrical neckline. Totally in character.
