Not quite method-dressing, but everybody is on board with the look

Sabrina Carpenter might sing she likes her men all incompetent, but there was little incompetence at MetLife Stadium on June 25 when Germany and Ecuador clashed in a Group E-defining match at the FIFA World Cup. (Granted, fans of the sport might argue that the match officials fit the bill, but that’s beyond the point.) 

Instead, when Carpenter arrived at the New York Giants’ home, she was in for a hard-fought match and one of the 2026 World Cup’s biggest plot twists. And while she dressed the sporty part, she also brought a plot twist of her own. 

Departing from the Blokecore ensembles that anyone and everyone (from fans to WAGs) is wearing this summer, Carpenter embraced tenniscore to craft her stadium outfit. Sitting in the box, the “Manchild” singer stunned in a paneled vintage minidress that echoed tennis inspirations: princess seams, polo neck and short sleeves. While it was unclear whether Carpenter was at the event to cheer on Ecuador or Germany, the color palette (blue and white) matched perfectly the Ecuador home and away kits’ colors.

Carpenter, who attended the match with stylist Paloma Idalia Sandoval and their close entourage, completed the look with her signature Hollywood blow-out, nude-toned glam, and a burgundy manicure. Plus, she was captured by the jumbotron, sporting a pair of silver binoculars that somehow elevated her entire look (and that people might want to get their hands on for their next stadium visit). 

Sabrina’s presence, of course, didn’t go unnoticed.

Videos and photos of the singer watching the match and waving the Ecuadorian jersey after the country’s 2-1 victory against Germany went viral on social media communities.

And frankly, it couldn’t be otherwise. Carpenter witnessed first-hand one of the most exciting moments from the World Cup’s group stage. Ecuador arrived at the World Cup expected to become the tournament’s dark horse, only to upset fans with a loss and a draw against Côte d’Ivoire and Curaçao. Neither the press nor football enthusiasts expected “La Tri” to turn things around, beating one of the World Cup’s favorites with goals from young ballers Nilson Angulo and Gonzalo Plata. 

The win was so significant that Ecuador’s sporting director, Sebastian Beccacece, climbed into the stands to celebrate with his family and images of Ecuadorian supporters have been making the rounds online. Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa even declared Friday a public holiday in the country. 

Sabrina, as the pop icon she is, was there to watch it all firsthand—and she dressed the part.
